The common wisdom is that daughters are nicer to their fathers, but maybe it’s more about the father’s notions about kids: with boys they have a different way of talking and react different to facial expressions, they talk about sadness in the body less than with girls. And this may have an influence on how we think of father/son relationships. But that might mean that it’s about intentionality and not letting your preconceived notions of gender dictate how you act.
Maybe the way boys are with emotions is less about their biology, and more about their father’s care.
