social media rewards talking but not listening

The idea of listening doesn’t really happen on social; we don’t get socially rewarded for listening because it isn’t visible to the network.

Social media is designed to get everyone talking, commenting, etc. You might argue that commenting is a form of listening, but before we even think to comment, we consider how it might be received by others, negating the whole idea of listening to begin with.
